Grey Sands Vineyard is family owned and operated…by the people who planted it! We don’t have a cellar door ‘structure’…our 1 Ha garden is our cellar door ( we used to open as part of the Open Gardens Australia Scheme). We are located in the beautiful Tamar Valley in northern Tasmania…35 mins drive NW of Launceston.

We welcome you to visit on the first (full) weekend of the month from October to April, 10am to 5pm. Outside of these weekends, we are open by appointment, so please ring, email or text us before coming so you aren’t disappointed by us not being here.

We make wines that will excite your senses and make you want to share them with friends. Our wines are made for cellaring, so we do the initial cellaring for you…we only release our wines when they are ready for drinking. We make a number of varietal wines (Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Shiraz to name some) and a number of unique ‘blends’…all from grapes grown on our property. We have 17 different varieties planted. We conduct our tastings in a variety of locations, depending on the weather & size & preferences of the visitors. You are welcome to BYO picnic to enjoy in the garden with a glass of wine

Our garden is what you’d call a ‘collector’s’ garden. We have many mature specimen trees (birches, conifers, maples) as well as many ‘exotic’ shrubs, bulbs & perennials…ensuring there is ‘something of interest’ over the opening months. We often have a small number of plants for sale.

We look forward to you visiting us and enjoying our wines in our garden.
