Mill of Dess Lodge

The Lower Dess estate lies in Royal Deeside on the north side of the river Dee with uninterrupted views over the valley to the Forest of Birse. The estate enjoys a very private and secluded position in a totally unspoilt rural setting and yet is close to Aberdeen.
The Mill of Dess Lodge is a truly luxurious 10 double bedroom, 10 ensuite bathroom, bed & breakfast Lodge which offers top-end accommodation for guests. The Lodge is fully staffed.
Finished to the highest standards by the well regarded designers at Melrose, the bedrooms are separated into two accommodation wings – South and North. Each bedroom is individually designed and named after a pool on the Lower Dess fishing beats. Every room offers Sky TV, Wi-Fi, telephone, jewellery safe, hair dryer, complimentary bathroom products by Cole & Lewis and the ultimate in fluffy white robes to ensure our guests’ in-room comfort.
Any bedroom can be made up as twin or double beds to suit individual preference. All bedding is allergy and dust mite free and each room has a range of soft and firm pillows to meet those individual “Princess and the Pea” needs. There is a limitless supply of white towels with an impossibly high GSM rating and lashings of hot water.
On each landing there is a complimentary hot drinks table where guests can make their beverage of choice at any time of the day or night. You might even want to avail yourself of the cookie jar!
The dining and drawing rooms offer the highest standards of comfort for large parties and guests will find that the small but important practical details have been well attended to with the provision of a drying room and secure storage.
The Lodge is available on a fully catered basis (dinner, bed & breakfast) using, where possible, the finest locally sourced Aberdeenshire produce. Guests are invited to supply their own alcohol.
Even the dogs are provided for with a separate kennel block.
The Lodge’s own Chef prepares all guest meals in our state of the art professional kitchen installed as part of the recent conversion. We are happy to accommodate any dietary requirements/intolerances and such prerequisites can be discussed and planned in advance of your stay. You can view the Menu choices here.
Our Housekeeper is the first point of contact for guests on all domestic issues and will do everything to accommodate your needs. For particularly large parties, or where additional assistance is temporarily required, we have access to experienced staff who are happy to help as needed. The grounds and garden are well and regularly maintained by local staff who take a pride in the Lodge looking at its best.
