Quiet Countryside Haven

Enjoy self-catering cottage holidays in west Wales at Dairy Cottages, Capel Dewi -
We offer quality accommodation in the tranquil setting of rural West Wales. Situated near the picturesque village of Capel Dewi near Llandysul in Ceredigion, this traditional stone-and-slate barn has been newly renovated and converted into two self-catering holiday cottages. The cottages retain many original features and are surrounded by 35 acres of rolling farmland, woods and stream. It's a perfect haven for the outdoor enthusiast with superb scenery, nature trails and wildlife and for anyone who just wants to relax in the quiet of the Welsh countryside.

The Accommodation -
The farm was built into the south-facing hillside above the Clettwr River and the gardens today are terraced to provide wonderful views over the valley. Each self-catering holiday cottage has its own stable door access to patio and deck; and as well there is a shared garden with chair swing, patio furniture and barbecue. Our holiday cottages are self-contained and well-insulated, however, to accommodate larger parties, the downstairs halls can be opened as adjoining lounges. Each cottage has under-floor heating on the ground floor and two comfortable loft bedrooms with radiators. All the bedrooms have south-facing dormer windows overlooking the Clettwr valley. The rooms are tastefully decorated throughout to a high standard.
There is one bathroom and an en suite shower room in each cottage and a modern kitchen fully equipped for self-catering with fridge-freezer, cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. The two bedrooms sleep four, with one double and two single beds. An extra double sofa bed is also available in one cottage, so we can accommodate larger parties of up to 10 guests, or separate parties of 4-6 guests in each holiday cottage. Highchair and travel cot are also available for infants.
The lounges are comfortably furnished and include Freesat TV and audio-visual system. Wifi access is also available via remote server. For the benefit of all guests, a ‘no-smoking indoors’ and no pets policy has been adopted. We live in the farmhouse nearby and are always available if required.

The Surrounding Area -
Within walking distance, you can visit Rock Mills, one of the few working traditional woollen mills left in the country, and the Honorwood Flock farm and shop specialising in Shetland and Icelandic fleeces and Angora mohair. Nearby is the Teifi Trail, part of the National Cycle Network, which will take our cycling visitors through some wonderful scenery to the coast at Cardigan, or inland to the wild beauty of the nature reserves around Tregaron. For fishermen, the Llandysul Angling Association is located nearby, for details of local salmon and trout fishing on the River Teifi. The Llandysul Paddlers Canoe Club offers white water rafting, canoes and kayaks for some spectacular scenery along the Teifi for the water sports enthusiasts.
A half hour drive from your holiday cottage through lovely countryside will bring you to the beautiful coastline of Cardigan Bay, with its clean, unspoilt beaches at Poppit Sands, Llangranog, Penbryn, Mwnt, and charming harbour towns at New Quay, Tresaith and Newport Sands. The Heritage Coast path provides cliff walking and stunning views all along the coast of Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire with sights of rock pools, sea birds, seals and sometimes dolphins.
Dotted around the countryside are numerous ancient and medieval historical sites, from Celtic hill forts to Roman mines and Welsh monasteries from the Middle Ages. Also worth a visit are the National Botanic Garden of Wales and the restored 17th century house and garden at Aberglasney in Carmarthenshire.

There is also a number of excellent restaurants and pubs in the vicinity where one can enjoy home made local fare or more exotic cuisine on your cottage holiday in west Wales. Whether you are interested in walking, bird-watching, fishing, sailing, horse riding, browsing in local craft and antique shops or visiting historical sites, you will find a range of brochures in the holiday cottages about the many visitor attractions in west Wales. And while we cannot guarantee clear skies, our valley is sheltered from light pollution and offers some great star gazing in the evening from the deck and gardens of your holiday accommodation.
