The Bell at Skenfrith is a hotel and award-winning restaurant on the banks of the River Monnow, just outside the tiny village of Skenfrith in the county of Monmouthshire. Privately owned, The Bell has 11 luxury, ensuite guestrooms with crisp cotton sheets, warm welsh blankets, flat screen tvs and tea and coffee-making facilities and Noble Isle toiletries. The restaurant offers an à la carte menu and on Sundays, traditional roast lunch is available from 12pm until 8pm. The Bell has two bars one beside the restaurant and another, with a separate entrance, called The Dog and Boot Bar specifically so walkers and dogs can feel relaxed - free biscuits are available for good dogs! The Bell's guest sitting room doubles as a private room that can be hired for parties, dinners, afternoon teas and other special events. The hotel has free wifi throughout although mobiles can be a bit tricky.

The Bell's menus are seasonal and ingredients are freshly cooked and sourced locally. The Kitchen Garden at The Bell grows much of the herbs, salads, vegetables and soft fruits for the kitchen and head chef Joseph Colman liaises closely with the garden team on what is grown. As well as a Kitchen Garden, there is the Garden Terrace and The Orchard where people can eat 'al fresco' or order one of The Bell's picnics and sit and watch the river flow by. The Bell is famous for its award-winning, diverse wine list which includes wines from some of the well-known Welsh vineyards in the area such as Ancre Hill and White Castle. In the bar, the beers and ciders are all from local brewers as are many of the spirits and soft drinks..

Situated beside the river in some of Wales's most beautiful countryside it is a haven for walkers. The Bell has created 6 circular walks which take the walker all around this area and wonderful historic medieval churches, castles and abbeys. It is also the perfect place for open-top motoring with a few hill climbs thrown in.

The Bell ticks all the boxes for romantic weddings and other special parties and events. The owners have an elegant marquee situated in a beautiful flower garden which provides the perfect backdrop for wedding photos. Having just installed a biomass boiler, giving ostensibly free hot water for the hotel, pipes from the boiler will be extended to provide the marquee with underfloor heating. Plans are also afoot to open a small bakery with fresh bread, rolls, cakes and delicious homemade jams using foods from the Kitchen Garden.

The Bell at Skenfrith has been a coaching inn for more than 300 hundred years and will continue to attract visitors to this area of outstanding natural beauty for many years to come.
