One of the most loved homes in Whitby, Lynde House truly has a delightful story to tell visitors. Be transported through time as you enjoy this Georgian gem, lovingly furnished with artifacts spanning over 200 years of history in Southern Ontario.
Jabez Lynde an early settler, who brought his family to this area in 1803 built Lynde House c. 1811 after first living in a log cabin. Jabez Lynde opened his home during the war of 1812 to those wounded. His daughter married John Borlase Warren who started the first post office in the area in his general store. Lynde House, has a unique history. It has been moved twice from its original site and lovingly restored. We offer guided tours and special events.
