Coffee Shack is idyllically nestled on the beach where the Bomvu River meets the warm blue Indian Ocean. We have a reputation of being a fun, good-value hostel with excellent facilities and the most amazing, friendly local staff. The local Tshezi Community Trust has 30% share in Coffee Shack, and we are proudly accredited by Fair Trade Tourism.

We offer clean, safe, budget accommodation, and our bathroom facilities are excellent. If you're looking for peace and quiet, there are traditional thatched huts (dorms, doubles and en-suite rooms) across the river, at backpacker rates.

Our kitchen serves up scrumptious breakfasts (& of course great coffees), a variety of lunch options and 2-course dinners at very reasonable prices (There's always a vegetarian option). If you prefer to self-cater, we have two well-equipped guest kitchens. The Babalaza Bar can be very festive and a lot of fun in the evenings.

We offer a variety of day trips every day, exploring the area and its cultures. Out specialty is surfing, and you cannot beat our 2 hour surf lessons, or the 5 day surf package, which includes accommodation, breakfast & dinners, 7 surf lessons, equipment hire included.
