The Village Café, an initiative of SABAH (SAARC Business Association of Home Based Workers) Nepal, provides innovative response to the need of the home based workers in the food sector who have had a social and economic disadvantage.
The Village Café serves popular delicacies, be it Newari, typical Nepali, Tibetan or other varieties Nepal is known for. Our Café has been known to have "The Best Yomaree in town", available 365 days in a year! The café’s authentic traditional menu is also contributing towards preserving Nepal’s distinctive food culture and heritage.
From the farm to the table, all the ingredients used have grown in the fields of our women cooks. Currently, more than 400 home based workers are involved in the production and processing of food in the café and thereby economically benefiting from it. SABAH Nepal works towards strengthening the livelihoods of women home based workers.
