At Snap Fishing Ventures we have designed and developed the components, so that you can put together a package and personalise your "Kiwi experience" of Auckland/New Zealand's beautiful and bountiful natural assets . We are very passionate about showing you the Hauraki Gulf including the Conservation Islands and Marine Parks, Bird Life (25% of all sea birds in the world), great Fishing and Marine Life and just hanging out on a secluded beach (BBQ, swimming and exploring). We want to ensure that your Kiwi experience is simply breathtaking.
Nik and Elke Key have held a life long ambition to host and entertain guests from all walks of life. We also offer accommodation and a look into the Kiwi Lifestyle nestled amongst the native Kauri trees in the Waitakere Ranges. We pride ourselves on delivering true Kiwi hospitality from a family based venture!
Finally we would like to make sure you can reflect on these experiences by recording the highlights with video and still photography, so you can show your friends and families what you have been up to!
ABOUT FISHING with Capt Nik
We go wide in search of workups (Whales, Dolphins and birds working the bait) and areas we know hold good fish. We supply all the latest top of the line fishing equipment – rods (Penn, Shimano, Ocean Angler and Catch), reels (Penn, Accurate, Ocean Angler and Shimano), lures (Inchinku and Kabura Jigging) and salt ice. We also teach you how to find and catch the fish using this light gear, utilising 35 years of experience in the Hauraki gulf.
Nik (Capt Snap) has been fishing the beautiful and bountiful Hauraki Gulf since a child (over 40 years).
Having fished this area extensively all year round and for many years, and through determination and local knowledge, Nik understands how and why this area fishes. Nik writes "how to" articles for NZ FishingNews, and fishing reports for Fishing.net. He is also interviewed and provides the Hauraki Gulf fishing report on Radio Live.
Around 2004 Nik started using softbaits/plastics and metal lures with great success, and it became an important way to fish. In 2007 his team entered into the first ever Berkley Gulp softbait competition in NZ and took home the inaugural prize.
Nik takes pride in showing others what he has learnt over the past 15 years of intensive lure fishing. He will also show you how to setup your gear, how to find the bait and workups and how to fish them!
