Welcome to Taste Of Plenty. We are a tour company located in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand, a region named by Captain Cook for its abundance of food supplies and bountiful Maori gardens. Today the region, along with all of New Zealand, is home to a food culture that celebrates freshness and flavour. We are passionate about food, superbly fresh local ingredients and the great chefs and cooks that call New Zealand home. Our aim is to introduce you to some of our favourite food heroes as we visit and sample innovative food from restaurants, markets, specialty food shops and hole in the wall production facilities.

Our tours are great for anyone who loves food mixed with a little history and insider tips on discovering the great bounty this region has to offer:
- Locals re-discovering their local area, getting to know amazing local food providores, producers, and innovative chefs and their cuisine.
- Visiting food lovers from out-of-town or overseas who want to learn about the local food specialities.
- Corporate Christmas events, team-building, co-workers, clubs and other networking or social groups
- Celebrations - Hens and Bucks events, birthdays, family reunions or any other reason to celebrate you can think of!!
- Friends getting together for a fun and delicious time with plenty of laughs!

BITES OF THE BAY TOUR: Tantalise your taste buds as you BITE your way through Tauranga and Mount Maunganui on this fun and interesting local foodie tour! We begin with a scenic drive along the beach front of Mount Maunganui. Along the way you will learn where the local foodies dine and what makes New Zealand food cuisine unique. We will meet some of the local food heros and learn why they decided to make this seaside destination home. This tour includes specialty food shops, "hole in the wall" food premises and out of the way foodie venues. But its not all about the food..... as your tour winds through Tauranga and surrounds, our guides will bring you up-to-date on the natural history, the development and the culture and of the area. We will traverse some stunning countryside and take you to scenic vantage points. It will be easy to see why this has become one of the most popular holiday destinations in New Zealand. There will be at least 5 food tastings and these will vary depending on what is in season on the day of your tour. You might taste local olive oils, smoked fish, kwi fruit, the best sourdough in New Zealand, specialty frozen yogurt, local cheeses, manuka honey, or kumara ... just to name a few!

TASTE OF PLENTY FOOD TOUR: This is our original food tour and is a great way to see and taste your way around the Bay of Plenty. It is an extended and more comprehensive version of the Bites of the Bay. The region is the largest producer of kiwi fruit and avocados in New Zealand and we visit orchards to learn more about the production and importance of the industries to New Zealand, tasting the freshest of fruit at each location. The region is also well know for its bountiful seafood and Manuka honey production, along with award winning olives, macadamia nuts and citrus.
On this bountiful foodie tour you will get at least 8 tastings which may include: artisan baked goods, local cheeses, seafood, beers, wines and ciders, manuka honey, berries, fruits, famous pies and home made kiwifruit ice cream to name a few. Depending on the day of the tour we may stop at the local farmers market to see the seasonal produce, or it might be a visit to our favourite coffee roaster to learn about the process of sourcing and roasting beans.
