Ben Ohau Road Cheese produces small quantities of high quality artisan cheeses. The purpose-built factory – The Cheese Room – is nestled amongst trees with views of the stunning mountains the Mackenzie Region is famous for. Cheese-making takes place without a traditional electricity supply and the focus is on crafting original varieties of cheese.

Visitors are welcome to come and watch the cheesemaker at work and observe the different techniques and skills required for handmade cheeses.
The Cheese Room has retail cheese and matched accompaniments for sale, and delicious cheeseboards and drinks can be enjoyed while admiring the views of the beautiful and rugged Southern Alps.

Ben Ohau Road Cheese is only 8 minutes from Twizel (the closest town to Aoraki/Mt Cook) off the tourist route from Christchurch to Queenstown.
