Wanaka Helicopters has operated since the mid 1990’s in the Southern Lakes region and into the World Heritage Mount Aspiring and Fiordland National Parks.

WANAKA WONDER
The views from this 4000 ft landing site overlooking Wanaka is considered by us to be NZ’s best kept secret.
You will be astounded by the pristine clear blue waters of Lake Wanaka, the glacial remnants including islands, hills and valleys that have been shaped and carved by the glaciers that covered this region long ago. To top it off, the area is surrounded by the Southern Alps with 10,000 ft Mount Aspiring as the feature backdrop.

AMAZING ASPIRING
An amazing alpine flight with a high altitude landing that explores Mount Aspiring (Tititea), the glaciers and the National Park.
Fly over the pristine clear blue waters of Lake Wanaka, past islands that are remnants of the last glacial period over 25000 years ago, to make a high altitude landing amongst the impressive mountain grandeur near Mt. Aspiring. This landing site is snow-covered for 9 months of the year. We then fly on to see close up, cascading cliffs of compressed blue ice, deep crevasses, steep, short hanging glaciers plus long winding glaciers up to 10 km long, waterfalls, sheer rock faces, and native forest.

MAJESTIC MILFORD
Milford Sound is probably the most sought after destination in NZ, and is sometimes acclaimed as ‘The 8th wonder of the World’.
Milford and Fiordland’s mountains rise vertically up out of the sea to a height greater than anywhere else in the world.
Fly over the pristine clear blue waters of Lake Wanaka, up wide braided rivers that drain the Southern Alps snow melt, to mighty Mt. Aspiring. After crossing the main divide and numerous glaciers, valleys, alpine lakes and mountain ranges, we fly along the rugged West Coast beaches, seeing seal colonies and bird life in their natural habitat.
We enter the mouth of Milford Sound from the Tasman Sea and fly the entire length of the Sound to land at Milford Aerodrome. After a leisurely look around on a nature bush walk and perhaps a cup of coffee, we either proceed back to Wanaka if on the Milford Magic flight or, if on the Milford Max flight, we fly deeper into Fiordland to see the impressive Sutherland Falls – the World’s 5th highest waterfall.
From here we proceed back to Wanaka through more of remote Fiordland via Lake Wakatipu and the historic gold-rich Shotover River.

GEORGEOUS GLACIERS
An amazing alpine scenic flight into the breathtaking Southern Alps to land at 7500 ft on an icy snowfield.
Having the unique opportunity to land on a glacier which is only accessible by helicopter is a real treat. Experience the solitude and beauty of landing on an everlasting icy snowfield amongst the Southern Alps, while snapshotting the Mighty Mount Aspiring just over the gully.

SNOW LANDINGS
From Wanaka Airport we climb up over rugged tussock sheep grazing country to the white glistening snow-capped mountains of the Pisa Range, rich in gold mining history from the mid 1800’s, for a snow landing at over 6500 ft.
