Located on one of the most romantic island destinations in the world at the equally romantic boutique style Cocobay Resort, Sheer Rocks Restaurant, perched atop a rocky bluff, is a collection of tiered wooden decks carved into the towering cliff side. A myriad of thatched roofs and bougainvillea-draped walkways, twinkling lights and billowing white curtains, and a summer soundtrack as one of its many backdrops.
Surrounded by the delights of endless azure waters and flanked by two pristine white sand beaches, just a pebbles throw from the majestic Ffryes Beach on the idyllic west coast of the island, Sheer Rocks and its small collection of plunge pools and four-poster lounge beds fill up excitedly with yachties, families and honeymooners alike.
Innovative, modern, and proud of delivering delectably distinctive flavours, since it opening in 2010, Sheer Rocks has since come to top the industry lists, notably being voted for three consecutive years with the Tripadvisor Traveler’s Choice Award (2014, 2015 and 2016) as one of the Best Fine Dining restaurants in the World and placing third overall in the entire Caribbean Region.
Chef de cuisine, Simon Christey-French, heads up the kitchen and comes armed with years of experience from 2 Michelin star restaurants, Gidleigh Park in Devon, The Square in London, and from a period as Richard Branson’s private chef on Necker Island to Head Chef at 2 Michelin star Pearl in London under the eagle eye of Executive Chef Jun Tanaka.
Christey-French’s food is delicate, artisanal and beautifully striking - bursting with Mediterranean character and just the right amount of Caribbean soul. The focus is on carefully selected and sustainably sourced ingredients, making use of the islands best fresh fish and ground provisions, which is evident just from browsing their menus.
The growing selection of tapas dishes that make up the fun lunch menu encourages sharing and large tables of friends staying put for the entire day – while sampling the signature and innovative cocktails from their list. As the sun slowly descends on the horizon, Sheer Rocks transforms into a romantic dinner retreat where the optional wine-paired five or seven-course tasting menu is just another phenomenal way to discover the menu and the team’s generous and well delivered and prepared specialties.
