Brewery Het Anker started brewing beer 5 generations ago in the Grand Beguinage of Mechelen. Over the years, it developed into an internationally renowned brewery. To this day, the traditional recipes remain the foundation of the brewing process and a variety of hops and herbs gives the beers their characteristic taste and aroma.
Gouden Carolus, named after the golden coins of Emperor Charles, now exists in different versions. The most famous are Gouden Carolus Classic (World's Best Dark Beer, WBA 2012), Gouden Carolus Tripel (World's Best Tripel, WBA 2012) and Gouden Carolus Cuvée van de Keizer Blauw (World's Best Belgian Style Strong, WBA 2015). In 2009, the brewery decided to brew an easy drinkable city beer for the citizens of Mechelen, still peppy enough in order to enjoy it to the fullest. Maneblusser is a blond beer with an alcohol percentage of 5.8% vol. in which you can taste a subtle citrus aroma and a fine finish.
