Hello! I am Arno and my dream is to establish a world-changing meeting point in the heart of Ghent.
I opened the first vegetarian/fresh food and tea bar in the most beautiful city in the world. A place to stop and enjoy, where having a biological tea and a healthy meal comes as natural as saying ‘hello’. LOKAAL is the Dutch word for ‘home-grown’. The ingredients, for the tea and for the food, are mainly as local as possible or alternatively come from within a radius of 2.000km. My main motto is: Everyone has a right to eat tasty, affordable and healthy food!
My authentic and delicious meals prove that organic food and drinks are not just salad and water, and most importantly: not expensive.

The other meaning of LOKAAL is the Dutch word for ‘place to be’. With my business I want to share my passion with others. Besides food and tea, I want to inspire with my experience and knowledge on ecology through (DIY-) workshops and offer the necessary advice to your ecological questions. I am strongly involved with creating an eco-friendly mindset and do not mind getting my hands dirty to convince others of this improved and healthy lifestyle. Arno is an active member of several environmentally friendly initiatives within Ghent and is fascinated by urban farming in all its ways.
