In Forcalquier, our hometown in Provence, we have 3 apartments for holiday rental. They are all located in one of the nicest streets in the old town, rue Saint Mary – a charming, cobblestoned street, leading up to a hilltop park. One of the unique aspects of the location is the fact that rue Saint Mary is a cul-de-sac; and extremely quiet with no traffic noise. However, the main square with its lovely cafes and restaurants is just around the corner. It is certainly convenient to be able to wander down in the evening, have a lovely meal with a bottle of wine and not have to worry about who is driving!

The apartments have either one or two bedrooms with separate kitchen, lounge and bathroom. Two of the apartments can be connected into a three/four bedroom house - perfect for a large family or a group of friends. They have modern conveniences and have been decorated in the Provencal style. One of the apartments has a delightful terrace with lovely views of our garden and citadel hilltop park. On top of the hill, overlooking the old town is a 19th century chapel set in a wooded cemetery, marking the site of the former citadel.

In the past, Forcalquier was a favourite residence of the counts of Provence and an internationally renowned cultural, political and economic centre. Today, Forcalquier hosts one of the liveliest and most colourful markets in the region. Here you will find all the produce of the season: lavender, honey stalls and artists selling their wares. Wander through the restored old town with its narrow streets, basking in the middle of rolling luxuriant scenery and discover the many interesting nearby sites like the Verdon Gorges or the picturesque villages in the famous Luberon Valley.

Forcalquier is almost in the heart of Provence and all major points of interest can be easily visited in a day. Travelling time to nearby cities – Nice 2.5 hours, Aix-en- Provence 1 hour, Avignon, Marseille and French Alps 1.5 hours.

Apartment Beatrice - After taking the stone stairway from the internal courtyard you arrive at the guest library where guests are able to browse at the travel books and maps from the area. Under the stairwell is a laundry with a washing machine and clothes dryer.

Entering the apartment through the old 13th Century stone doorway you arrive in the hallway from where the bathroom/WC runs off to the right with a very large shower. Continuing straight ahead you come to the dining/lounge room with TV, stereo and DVD. Straight ahead is the fully equipped kitchen including a dish washer.
To the left of the lounge /dining area is the bedroom with a large double bed and a glass door with direct access to a private terrace.

From the kitchen there is also access to the delightful terrace. The terrace has superb views towards the citadel and the hill top park of Forcalquier. In Summer a vine clad pergola provides pleasant shade.

In Spring or Autumn the terrace is a lovely spot to just relax in a sunny corner. A BBQ is also at guests’ disposal. All rooms are connected to a central heating system.

In Summer the apartment stays remarkably cool due to the thick stone walls. All windows have attractive blue shutters which can be locked at night or closed during the day to keep the sun out.

There is free wifi throughout.
