The border watchtower near the Potsdamer Platz is the oldest historical relic of the Berlin Wall. It is
the only surviving tower from the first series constructed from concrete. In a private initiative we have taken over the tower from the city and restored it to its present state. Since then, it has become a must-see attraction for Berlin tourists.
As such, between Potsdamer Platz and Leipziger Platz you’ll now find a monument of international significance.
The tower attraction is open as long as the weather is fair. The most asked question by visiting tourists is: “Where was the Wall?” With that opener, we gladly give them a popular lecture on the spirit of the location they find themselves on, its history, and its integration into the former border fortifications. Visitors making it all the way up to the canopy get a glimpse back into the era of the cold war.
