The Volcano Museum in Stykkishólmur, Iceland, is a unique museum that displays international art and objects and rock types that relate to volcanic eruptions and their effects. With a major emphasis on Iceland, the museum provides a good introduction to Iceland geology and volcanoes, especially the volcanic activity on the Snæfellsnes peninsula and of Snæfellsjökull volcano. the collection also includes original art works by internationally famous artist, including Andy Warhol and David Siequeiros, showing their impressions of volcanic eruptions. The museum also hosts and shows a number of documentary films of Icelandic volcanic eruptions, as well as important eruptions that have had a global impact. The museum is the creation of Professor Haraldur Sigurdsson, and all of the works, objects and rocks displayed here have been collected during his long career as a volcanologist, working world-wide.
