Building of 1913 recently restored, situated on the plaza of Ortisei in walking distance of the cable-ways, lifting you up at over 7500 ft. to a plateau with a breathtaking view. The perfect base from which to discover the incomparable beauty of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Situated in the centre of Ortisei, but largely free of traffic, this elegant Liberty-style house is right at the beginning of the pedestrian area. Originally built by Fanny and Johann Sanoner, Hotel Stetteneck celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2013: a century of traditional hospitality: The present owners, grand-children of the founders, have completely refurbished the hotel with loving attention to detail, keeping the elegance and the clear lines of the original Liberty-style building. Today Stetteneck is a charming hotel, unique in Val Gardena, a building with a chequered history, used in the past as an Austro-Hungarian imperial post office, as an officers' mess in the First World War and during the Second it hosted the valley's only underground air-raid shelter – all adding value to its subtle but irresistible fascination.
