The Amsterdamse Bos is 3 times the size of New York’s Central Park And entirely man-made. Spanning an impressive 1,000 hectares, the Amsterdamse Bos is among the largest city parks of Europe. With a mosaic of wet and dry patches, wooded areas, grassland, reed and open water. Each forest area has its own character and inhabitants. The Amsterdam Forest is proud to present its very own big five: the marsh harrier, the kingfisher, the Scottish Highlander, the squirrel and the grass snake!
Enjoy a seasonal walk in the woods, go sailing or cuddle the goats. There is so much to see at the Amsterdamse Bos, you won’t run out of things to do. The forest boasts a wide range of lunch cafes and restaurants with stunning views of the forest and the waterside. Every year, the Amsterdamse Bos is the setting for around 250 events, from weddings and parties to sports, theatre and dance events.
