Castelados, like its brother restaurant La Castela situated in the same neighborhood, guards the traditions of a true Madrid barrio bar: free (and generous) tapa with each drink, fast service and typical ambience created by a diverse clientele. Castelados excels because of its cuisine, based on highlighting the quality of its products, and its formidable value for money (around 40 euros per person if you get a table at the restaurant). Try, together with a cold caña (draught beer, 1.50 euros), the fresh seafood (mussels, sweet razor clams, clams in sherry sauce or grilled prawns), the rabo de toro (bull tail stew) or the splendid fish (neither sole, hake or cod, all cooked to perfection, will let you down). Booking well in advance is highly advisable.
