Formerly known as The Quiet Man, this venerable Irish institution has been serving pints of the black stuff for twenty odd years, but has recently been given a fresh new lease of life as "Shenanigans". Whilst the pub's original charisma has not been tampered with - thirsty travellers are still greeted by traditional pub booths with stain-glassed partitions and dusty tomes of Oscar Wilde and Keats fill numerous glass cabinets - in its new incarnation Shenanigans is undoubtedly younger and more spritely than ever before. Behind the bar for example you'll find no fewer than 20 beers, including the cheapest Guinness in Barcelona (€4 a pint) and also great artisan choices like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Brew Dog and Barcinos. Whilst the fun loving locals can't get enough of the €5 gin and tonics, and buckets of beer (5 for €10) prove popular with groups of friends. Serious hedonists can tackle the bar's 1 metre beer tower (€18), which (nearly) always goes down well. One of the best meeting points in Barcelona, Shenanigans is more than just a place to lubricate the tonsils and you'll find five large TV screens to watch big games. Open daily from 6pm until late.
