Set in picturesque Muskoseepi Park, the Grande Prairie Museum, is a free museum with a focus on preserving the pioneer history of the area.
Indoor galleries highlight the first homesteaders in the region and those who contributed to the development of the Peace Country.
The main museum also features a replica paleontological dig site with locally found bones of an Edmontosaurus; Prehistoric stone artifacts used by the first Aboriginal people to settle this area; Transportation artifacts including a replica train station; and military and war displays.
Our adjoining Heritage Village is open May through September (weather depending). The Village consists of 14 historical and display buildings which were relocated and restored from the Grande Prairie area, or constructed as a replica of the original building. It also includes a display of antique farm equipment and vehicles; providing visitors with a glimpse of what times past were like. We also have a small Presbyterian church which remains available to rent for summer wedding ceremonies.
Visit Our Village during special events and holidays such as Canada Day and Heritage Day when it truly comes to life. School and recreational groups can also book one of our summer educational tours and programs for a more enriched experience. The museum also offers special crafts and activities around holidays and events year-round. Please visit our website or call for upcoming events.
