Misiones de Kino is a very unique restaurant, due to its design as an early Baja Mission. We offer both outside seating under the stars in our lush garden oasis, and indoor seating in a traditional rustic Mexican palapa. Our quaint and cozy bar has been enjoyed by many, where you can sit and visualize what Cabo was like more than a hundred years ago.
Israel Vazquez Sanchez owner and original creative chef is originally from a small Mexican village in Veracruz. Israel came to Cabo San Lucas in 1996 to pursue his vision to unite Mexican, Italian and seafood dishes together to create a unique culinary experience. Misiones de Kino was opened one year later in 1997, when Cabo San Lucas was just a small quiet fishing village. Israel’s restaurant was one of the first to offer to fisherman the option of bringing in their fresh caught fish, and have it prepared with 6 to 8 different ways. Many years later his restaurant still offers and enjoys carrying on this tradition for our local and visiting deep sea fisherman.
The secret sauce Misiones de Kino is well-known for “Israel’s Secret Garlic Sauce” also known as Chilpalla Sauce. Israel wanted to create a sauce that no other restaurant could offer, one that would be his signature in Cabo San Lucas. Imagine a sauce that is a bold and daring mixture of garlic, chili, and herbs in a delicate white sauce. This divine creation can be smothered over fresh seafood, chicken and pasta.
Israel and his team are not only masters of exquisite cuisine, they are also known for the best margarita’s and mojito’s in town, using the freshest ingredients. We are one of the few places in town that offers tequila straight from the wood barrel, as tequila was meant to be enjoyed.
