Hot Licks Homemade Ice Cream is a seasonal (May through August) ice cream shop. They have been making small batch hand made ice cream in Fairbanks, Alaska since 1986. Seating is outdoors. Menu items include Cones, Sundaes, Brownie Sundaes, Coffee Mug Sundaes, Banana Splits, Ice Cream Sandwiches,Shakes, Ice Cream Sodas, Hand Packed Ice Cream Pints, and Espresso Drinks. Ice cream is made on the premises. Flavor possibilities are limitless. There are typically around twenty eight or so to choose from at any time. Local favorites include Alaska wild berry flavors such as Alaska Blueberry, Alaska Cranberry, Aurora Borealis, and Northern Bluet as well as Pipeline Swirl, Prudhoe, and Malted Grapenut. In addition to super-premium ice cream Hot Licks also makes Sorbet, Sherbet, Gelato, Frozen Yogurt, and Soft Serve. Toppings such as Caramel, Hot Fudge, and Butterscotch are also made on the premises from scratch. The ice cream is considered by many to be some of the best in the nation. They use real ingredients to make their ice cream. Not only the fresh milk and cream, but all their flavoring ingredients too are real. For example, their chocolate ice cream is made by melting real chocolate (not from chocolate syrup) and they make coffee ice cream by grinding and brewing fresh ground coffee beans (not from coffee powder). You can taste the quality in every flavor they make.
