Matteo's Public was founded on the belief that only through the success of our community will we prosper. Because of this belief we are committed to supporting our local farmers and ranchers. We are giving back to our community by hosting frequent fundraisers, which 15% of all sold during their set time goes back to the fundraising recipient.. Additionally we offer organic ingredients when possible, which may or may not be noted in the menu.
Up here in Nevada city we are lucky to have a very diverse arts community. We have live music seven nights a week, everything from blue grass to straight ahead jazz, during the warm weather it is on our beautiful outdoor patio. Our walls are graced with new art every eights weeks, using local artists.
Here at Matteo's Public we have a passion for craft beer and good food. We have 10 rotating draft handles with only craft beer, two of which are brewed here in Nevada City. and a number of bottled Belgian ales. Four times a year we host beer dinners, cooking and pairing with breweries from all over the state.
Our kitchen staff prepares fresh made goodness, from our Sunset magazines highly rated fish tacos, made with wild caught cod and organic corn tortillas to our famous ale braised pulled pork. Our chicken is organic as well. the customers love our freshWe serve USDA choice beef for our steaks and sustainable raised ground beef for our 1/2 pound burgers.
We change our specials every two weeks and have happy hour Monday thru Thursday.
Nevada city hosts many seasonal events. December we have 5" Victorian Christmases". Our streets close down and fill with art, music and more. In the summer its called "Summer nights" ( 3 days) done in the same fashion. Mid January we host SYRCL'S "Wild and Scenic Film Fest", the largest environmental film festival in the country.Please see www.nevadacitychamber.com for more info on all our events.
We have the beautiful "wild and scenic" Yuba river just minuets from the downtown area and Deer creek running through our quaint gold rush era town.
