The now World Renowned Sea Glass Museum houses the finest pieces of a retired sea Captain's sea glass treasure.
Fort Bragg, Ca, is world renowned for its three sparkling "Beaches of Glass", the highest concentration of Sea Glass in the world. In his retirement, Capt. Cass Forrington has scoured these beaches of glass, gathering and preserving some of the finest examples of Sea Glass and Terracotta the beaches have produced. With over 3,000 artifacts on display, the Sea Glass Museum is the world's largest permanent Sea Glass display.
The museum is highly educational regarding the origins and processes that create the Sea Glass, and multiple videos contribute to the educational experience. The origins of the glass is explained, as are the amazing environmental benefits for the marine environment.
With its beautifully back-lit Sea Glass displays, the Sea Glass Museum is considered one of the most unique and beautiful places to visit on California's magnificent north coast, and is ranked #5 of 37 things to do on the coast by Trip Advisor. The museum had over 18,000 visitors in 2015 and will total more in 2016.
