Route of the Hiawatha

The Route of the Hiawatha is a Hall of Fame rail-to-trail located in the beautiful Bitterroot Mountains of the Idaho panhandle. It's a trail for anyone to enjoy by bicycle or hike. The trail is a gentle 2% grade all downhill to the Pearson Trailhead. Trail Shuttles are available to bring you back up and ride the Taft Tunnel, just one more time, to the parking lot. The East Portal Trailhead/Taft Tunnel is easy access off of I-90 on the Idaho/Montana divide. Bicycle's are available for rent at Lookout Pass Ski Area and include a helmet and light.

The Route of the Hiawatha is open daily from Memorial Day weekend to the last weekend of September.
