This is the 16th rock painted by artist Ray "Bubba" Sorensen on his 99-County Freedom Rock Tour. It is located in Manning's Willow Creek Park on the east edge of town. The rock features the Milwaukee railroad trestle, service men and women, and those on the home-front who help provide for our freedoms. Additional information about the rock, Manning, and Carroll County is located in a kiosk at the grounds.
The Freedom Rock is Accessible to Persons with Disabilities. Motorcoach parking is available.
The Carroll County Freedom Rock is located at the east side of Manning.
The area around the Rock is paved with bricks that came from Manning's 1915 brick Main Street.
The trestle featured on the Rock is still in operation. The area is being developed into Trestle Park and includes a large IOWA sign great for pictures.
The Milwaukee RR Trestle was so important during WWII that it was guarded against sabotage.
Across the road from the Rock is the Hausbarn-Heritage Park, which includes Trinity Church. The Park is open for tours from May 1-Oct. 31.
The Rock was painted by Ray "Bubba" Sorensen.
