The Fort Museum and Frontier Village is a museum that is unique and touted as one of the best frontier era museums in the mid west. The museum grounds hold a Fort Stockade with barracks, parade grounds, and historic cabins The adjacent Frontier Village Lane and Cardiff Garden include historical buildings and cabin, and additional garden areas. The property also includes the popular event venue The Frontier Opera House.
These buildings house artifacts and memorabilia from the 1850's through 1950 to encompass one hundred years of history. Some of the buildings include: Livery and Veterinarian office, Blacksmith Shop, Jail House, Newspaper office, Pharmacy, General Store, Cabinet Shop, Land Office, the Border Plains Schoolhouse, Prairie Chapel, and Homesteader's cabin.
