The Pryor House B & B is a Victorian Restoration. Built in l893 by the Pryor Family, and formerly known as the Teacherage--housing local educators of the Shelby-Tennant School district, it was lovingly restored in 2011 to its' former beauty by owners Tom and Pat Honeywell. It features three guest suites named for former teachers of Pat's who actually lived in the house.
The Bragg Suite features a beautiful Victorian fireplace in the sitting room along with sofa bed for extra sleeping space. The bedroom of this three room suite features a king bed and private sitting area-the perfect spot for snuggling up with a good book, over-looking the garden. An air spa tub and walk-in shower grace the large tiled bath. A double room is $149/night. The rooms formerly housed Pat's kindergarten teacher.
Nancy's Nook is named after Pat's office education teacher and features a high-backed slipper soaking tub in bath and a king bed. TV/DVD/VCR are included in this room which features several works of art completed by Tom & Pat's grandchildren. This suite overlooks the west lawn of the property and has a sunny afternoon view through it's long Victorian windows. A double room is $110/night.
Ernie's Attic is named in honor of Pat's high school principle, a long-timed resident of not only the house but also of Shelby, as well, where he was mayor for many years. This large suite located throughout the third floor includes sitting room with a queen sofa bed and TV/DVR/VCR, A private bath is just down the hall and adjacent to the large bedroom which features two queen beds and three reading nooks. Perfect for groups and families seeking a roomy area, this suite is stocked with toys and games for all ages. Price range dependent upon number of guests, ranging from $200-250.
Rooms on the first floor include a front parlor with a floor to ceiling library and fireplace and the back parlor with TV. Full home-cooked breakfasts are served in the dining room and on the large patio in the well-landscaped garden, weather permitting. Books and movies are on site for guest enjoyment and Wi-Fi is available throughout the home.
During your stay we have bikes on-site for riding on the 6.2 mile Stone Arch Biking & Walking trail--a beautifully designed trail meandering through the middle of town and into the country. Pick berries along the way, rest on one of the many stone benches, listen to the babbling creek along side the trail, gaze upon the Corn Stalk sculpture among flowers in the wayside garden; picnic under the Stone Arch Bridge or ex0plore the paths of Pingle's Timber. Take along a good book for a quiet, serene day in the country. And then there is always time to spend an evening on the patio visiting and having a glass of wine while you unwind. Or take a nap in the nearby hammock.
