Oak Grove, Kentucky is a very small community located just outside of Fort Campbell Army Base and lies on the border of Tennessee. We are proud to be the hometown of Fort Campbell and its amazing soldiers. The Oak Grove Tourism Commission works hard to bring big attractions to a small town.
Oak Grove Tourism has developed a War Memorial Walking Trail which hold military monuments, a playground, a butterfly garden, a pavilion, a 18 hole disc gold course, and most recently a beautiful gazebo. Oak Grove Tourism has also built the Viceroy Performing Arts Outdoor Amphitheater, which is perfect for hosting concerts, plays, and other performances. Oak Grove Tourism also maintains and runs the Valor Hall Conference & Event Center. This venue is available for rent and has boasted hundreds of weddings, proms, military balls, job fairs, expos, and trade shows. What Oak Grove Tourism is most known for however, is our 2 signature festivals. These festivals are held every year and are completely free and open to the public. Both of our festivals have won international and southeast regional awards the last two years in a row.
Our Annual Spring into Summer Festival Salutes Fort Campbell is held every year during Memorial Day Weekend. All free entertainment is provided by Oak Grove Tourism and a few sponsors. Approximately 40,000 people come from all over the country to enjoy the free festivities including a free concert on Saturday evening. The concerts feature big name artists such as; Easton Corbin, Thomas Rhett, and Joe Nichols, to name a few. To kick off the concert, the FasTrax veteran parachute jumpers display their abilities to the sound of the National Anthem. The concert begins shortly after the parachute jumpers have landed and concludes with a beautiful fireworks display. There are many other free activities throughout the weekend to enjoy such as free carnival rides for varying age groups, trackless train rides, a bungee trampoline, a video game bus, stage shows, a free photo booth, as well as other activities that vary from year to year.
Oak Grove Tourism's Annual Butterfly Festival is held on The fourth Saturday of September every year. This is a free, family friendly, one of a kind festival. The purpose of the butterfly festival is to teach children about the importance of butterflies as well as other insects. We want to provide the kids with fun and safe activities in which they can interact with live insects as well as animals while learning about their life stages and their role in nature. The activities vary widely to accommodate many different ages.
There are educational arts and craft tents where children can express their creativity. We also have a butterfly tent where you can go inside and interact with live butterflies. Children are able to get free face paintings, ride ponies, or take a ride on the train around our park. Our popular bubble zone features pools of bubbles and a bubble tunnel. This festival also features a free photo booth, family fun stage shows and a bungee trampoline. The festival concludes with the traditional live release of over 1,000 butterflies.
