We at Honey Island Swamp Tours, would like to introduce ourselves and invite you to come and enjoy the Louisiana Swamp experience. We offer a unique outdoor adventure that is safe, organized, fun, and educational.

All of our tour boats are U.S. Coast Guard inspected and approved. Our small, custom built flat-bottom, boats transport approximately 20-24 individuals each. They are operated by experienced local guides who interact with the guests and make the trip both enjoyable and exciting.

Upon arriving at our location on the West Pearl River, in Slidell Louisiana, come on into our gift shop overlooking the Tupelo and Cypress swamp and check in for your tour. Be sure to take a look out of the back window to see if you can find any of our backyard guests lurking in the murky waters below. Don’t forget to use the restrooms before embarking on your 2 hour tour throughout nearly 70,000 acres of the Honey Island Swamp that is a permanently protected wildlife preserve. Make yourself at home and relax on the porch where our captains will call your name to board our vessels.

As you’re walking down the dock we’re sure the excitement of seeing the moss hanging from the gnarled cypress trees and the sweet smell of wild azaleas will begin to fill your mind with eagerness to explore! The Captain’s swamp tales of pirates, sightings of Big Foot, and prehistoric creatures roaming the swamp will be running through your mind as you enter the primitive beauty of the Honey Island Swamp.

Keep your eyes peeled for alligators, herons, egrets, deer, feral hogs, nutria, raccoons, otters, turtles and frogs along the banks and the in the murky waters. Or look up and out for bald eagles, owls, osprey, and other water fowl soaring through the skies. They’ll be there one second and gone the next…wait, was that the swamp ape?

Those touring the Honey Island can easily see why Louisiana is known as the Fisherman’s Paradise. Passing through the Cajun village, where local fisherman reside, you can see them catching bluegill, redear sunfish, largemouth bass, and warmouth; but you may also get to see alligator gar, flathead catfish, freshwater drum, and buffalo fish. Thousands of pounds of crawfish are caught in these waters every season as well.

With your journey back up river, and your new famous swamp doo, the captains take you back to your original departure location where you’ll be ready to go again!

We do offer transportation from hotels that are in the Downtown or French Quarter area of New Orleans, should you be in town without a vehicle!
