Musée culturel du Mont-Carmel

The Musée culturel du Mont-Carmel is a museum in northern Maine, on the Canadian border with New Brunswick. It is a restored former Roman Catholic church in a small agrarian village. The museum is located in a complex of three buildings. It is a large building in French Baroque style with an Ancient Roman interior. It has 7 foot trumpeting archangels on each of two towers. It contains a large collection of Acadian and French Canadian artifacts. The museum is also a cultural center that hosts performances in folklore, classical music, and lectures. On parle Français ici.
The museum is open summer afternoons fro June 15 to August 15 from noon to 4 pm except for Saturdays. Arrangements can be made by calling for tours at other times. Entry is free, but donations are greatly appreciated.
