Poland Spring Resort is in Lakes and Mountain region of Maine, a little over two hours north from Boston and only minutes from the Oxford Casino. The Resort consist of the Maine Inn, the Presidential Inn, the Lodge, ten cottages and the Beach House. The Maine Inn, open May until mid October, with a relaxing verandah, is the center of all the action with the welcoming lobby, gift shop and check-in desk. Rick’s Pub and entertainment lounge are off the lobby. The nightly entertainment is very enjoyable with different themes and bands each weekend. Midweek entertainment includes dancing, Summer Theater, and a concert performance. The Presidential Inn, open May until mid October, offers an exercise room, game room and mini movie theater besides a beautiful Victorian lobby. The Lodge, open year round, is quaint with easy access to Route 26.

The spaciousness, cleanliness of their varied types of rooms will catch you by surprise and the striking view of the White Mountains and vastness of 500 green acres that comprise the property. At the resort, there are Wimbledon style grass tennis courts; a Donald Ross designed 18-hole golf course, game rooms, 10,000 volume library, horseshoes, bocce, putting green, shuffleboard, hiking trails, croquet, mini golf, driving range, and outdoor pool. The meals are served buffet style and are “all you can eat” with lots of great home-style cooking, and a dessert selection not to be missed.

Golf has been played at Poland Spring since the late nineteenth century. Touted as the oldest resort golf course in the United States, the Links at Poland Spring opened in 1896 and was one of the first 80 courses built in the United States. 18-hole with great views of White Mountains and the surrounding lakes.

If you feel like doing some sightseeing, you won’t have to go far. See the Gems of 26: Poland Spring Water’s fascinating Preservation Park where you can visit the original source and the Maine State Building is a short walk. Shaker Village is a couple of miles away, Maine Wildlife Park, and McLaughlin Gardens.
