The Ihling-Burdick-Start Guest House, est 1905. The house is located across the street the Castle at 1403 Grand Ave. The land was purchased from Frank Henderson by Mr. Ihling and is a premier example of the Craftsman Style homes found in the West Main Hill Neighborhood. The architect that designed the home was the cousin of C.A. Grombert, architect of the Castle.
The house was maintained by its three owners in it's original condition. Of special interest inside are the arches, stained glass tulip window, and paneling in several of the rooms.
In Fall 2015, Francois L. Moyet, purchased the home from Mrs. Clarice Start, becoming the 4th owner. The Start Guest House makes a welcome addition to the Henderson Castle property. The Start Guest House boasts 4 queen size guest rooms with private bathrooms located between the first and second floor. A large dining and sitting on the main floor offers many a quiet place for relaxation. Guests of the Start House are welcome to use the Henderson Castle facilities at no additional charge based on availability but access to the Castle cannot be guaranteed.
