Shroud Exhibit and Museum

This Shroud of Turin exhibit and museum is a science and history adventure. Admission is free. A presentation is available in 20 different languages.
The museum features a full-size color image of the Shroud of Turin and interactive 3D images, 3D displays, an overview video, scientific studies, and a review of Shroud history. There is also an image of the Sudarium of Oviedo, a cloth known to be with the Shroud from before the 7th century.
The Shroud of Turin has a unique and extremely significant connection to New Mexico and the world's largest scientific expedition ever launched to study a single artifact; the Shroud of Turin. The museum features the only open and interactive display of the VP-8 Image Analyzer, an analog computer video imaging instrument used in the discovery of a proof regarding the Shroud's 3D (three-dimensional) characteristics at Sandia Laboratories in Albuquerque. The 3D discovery led to the formation of the 1978 investigation team known as the Shroud of Turin Research Project (STURP). With 6000 pounds of equipment they examined the 14-foot by 3.5-foot linen for 5 days and nights. The team had more members from New Mexico and associated with research in New Mexico than from any other single location in the world.
Shroud Exhibit and Museum (SEAM) is a non-profit, all volunteer corporation. Allow at least an hour. Young and old can enjoy the Shroud experience. Bring your cell-phone camera to repeat and prove a discovery in 1898 concerning the Shroud's photographic negative-like properties. Look at a brightness plot of yourself and the Shroud image in interactive real time on a world famous VP-8 image analyzer. See the 3D images made by Dr. Petrus Soons and study the tactile 1/3-scale model made in urethane. Get a guided tour from one of our docents and view the many posters and images about research into the history of the Shroud. Spend some time looking into the library collection.
