Welcome to 1840 Inn on the Main, a Victorian romantic bed and breakfast located in the scenic Finger
Lakes region of Upstate NY in Canandaigua. Also, known as the Alfred Morris Gifford House, it has
been lovingly renovated to anticipate the every need of travelers to today. The Inn is among the top-rated B&B's in the Finger Lakes area. Located in the heart of the Historic District, the Inn is a short walk to shops, restaurants, historic sites, and Canandaigua Lake.
The homestead is comprised of two separate homes adjoined; the original farmhouse, built in 1820,
and the statelier section, built sometime in the 1880’s. The Inn boasts intricate carvings on the doorframes
and fireplaces, making each room truly unique. It is decorated in many period furnishings true to the
period, yet designed for the comfort of guests to make them feel at home.. Restoration to the Inn has been continuous, lasting fifteen years thus far. The Inn has A/C and wireless internet, and provides freshly baked treats
and fresh fruit daily in the dining room.

The Inn has 5 luxurious guestrooms, several with fireplaces and/or Jacuzzi's, all have en suite baths,
cable TV/DVD, and guest refrigerator and microwave with non-alcoholic beverages
provided in the guest area. One of the newest renovated suites is on the first floor, which
is convenient for guests with mobility issues. Besides the guestrooms, the Inn has an independent family suite, which sleeps up to 5 comfortably, along with all the modern amenities to feel at home. Call directly for information on this unit.

Clement Rm offers a bold queen-size iron bed, a quaint Victorian accent chair, armoire and fireplace. It is tastefully decorated in Victorian cream and black toile. En suite bath features an antique claw foot tub/shower.

Penfield Suite is a spacious two-room suite, with its own private parlor and fireplace. It has a magnificently carved four-poster king bed and a large loveseat in the bay windows overlooking the back yard. It is located on the first floor of the inn, making it suitable for people with mobility issues.
