The majestic Allegheny National Forest (ANF), offers four seasons of outdoor recreation including camping, fishing, boating, hunting, hiking, cycling, birding, snowmobiling and ATV Trails. Located within northwestern Pennsylvania, it is a convenient drive for more than one-third of the nation’s population.

Open to free public access year round, the ANF is approximately 517,000 acres and includes land within McKean, Elk, Warren and Forest counties. Over 463,000 acres are forested, 42,000 acres are non-forest, and 11,000 acres are covered by water, primarily the Allegheny Reservoir formed by the Kinzua Dam, which impounds the Allegheny River. Highlights include the Longhouse National Scenic Byway, Rimrock and Jakes Rock Overlooks, Kinzua Beach, and over 600 miles of multi-use motorized and non-motorized trails. A diverse hardwood forest offers stunning fall foliage, with prime color the last two weeks of September and the first two-weeks of October.

Camping & Cabins

The Forest offers a camping experience for everyone, 15 campgrounds with more than 1,000 sites, including developed RV camping, cabins, tent, primitive and boat only. ANF camping reservations can be made by calling 877-444-6777 or on-line at www.recreation.gov. Each campsite contains a picnic table, fire ring or grill, accommodates two parking vehicles, a wheeled camping unit and a tent, except for five campgrounds that are accessible by boat and hike only.

Willow Bay, located 15 miles west of Bradford along Rt. 346, offers lakefront cabins and camping, with cabins open year round. Cabin Fees range from $55 to $65 (prices subject to change).
