Buffs Old Fashioned Ice Cream Shop is a local landmark. Established in 1946, the ice cream parlor has served the Brookville and surrounding communities with Homemade Ice Cream and Goodies for generations. Dan Smith first opened the Ice Cream business at its current location on 1 Mabon Street. It was very successful and in 1953 he began making homemade Candy. By 1964 there was enough interest in the candy that he separated the ice cream shop from the candy. A few short years later, he outright sold the ice cream shop and focused solely on his candy making operation. This marked the end of the Dan Smith era but was just the beginning of what was to become Buffs Ice Cream! Cliff and Milly Buffington purchased the business in 1985. For 30 years Buffs has served the community of Brookville with delicious ice cream and candies. Buffs features Hand Packed Homemade Ice Cream, Yogurts and Premium Sherbets, Sundaes and Milkshakes, Old Fashion Sodas and Icebergs, Floats and Ice Cream Novelties, and Hand Dipped Chocolates! In 2016 the business and the Buffs name was sold to Brad and Patty Butcher. Brad and Patty want to acknowledge the many great years that Cliff and his late wife "Milly" Mildred put into the business. Since 1985 they gave some of their best years that helped make Buffs into the success that it is today. "There is a lot of history within those walls", says Brad "and for the most part it has everything to do with Cliff and Milly. I am glad to have trained under Mr. Buffington". Buffs now offers a lunch menu during the week. Homemade Soups and Salads, Grilled Sandwiches and Burgers will no doubt compliment that milkshake we all crave. Buffs Ice Cream Parlor truly is a Must See Destination. Many travelers make a tradition of stopping by on their way to and from vacation camps and homes in the Pennsylvania Great Northwest.
