The Demuth Museum is located in historic downtown Lancaster, PA, in the former home and studio of American Modernist Charles Demuth (1883-1935). The Museum was established in 1981 to heighten awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the artwork and legacy of Lancaster's most famous artist.

As a leader of the American Modernist movement, Demuth is best known as a pioneer of the Precisionist style and a master watercolorist. The Museum has a permanent collection of over 45 Demuth works, along with an extensive archive and library. The gardens from which he drew inspiration, the Demuth Tobacco Shop and other historic buildings surround the museum. The museum rotates special exhibitions and events.
