Lehigh University Art Galleries

Lehigh University Art Galleries is the Teaching Museum at Lehigh University. LUAG inspires, develops, and promotes visual literacy and cultural understanding through cross-disciplinary educational opportunities that supplement formal classroom study. LUAG's core educational resource is its world-class art collection, which it uses, along with traveling exhibitions from outside the university, to create settings for experiential learning. A "museum-without-walls", LUAG extends throughout three campuses in the form of galleries, classrooms, outdoor sculpture, and open-storage for its teaching collection.

Our exhibitions for the Spring 2017 semester are "Area Artists 2017" and "The Art of Collecting: New Acquisitions 2011-2016, from the LUAG Teaching Museum Collection". Both exhibitions will be featured until May 26, 2017.

"Area Artists" is a biennial exhibition featuring a selection of works from an active and internationally recognized community of eastern Pennsylvanian artists dating back to 1987. This year's exhibition includes works by Deborah Slahta (ceramics), Ed Kerns (painting), Judith Joy Ross (photography), and the collaborative team of Pat Badt (painting and bookmaking) and Scott Sherk (sound sculpture).

"The Art of Collecting: New Acquisitions 2011-2016, from the LUAG Teaching Museum Collection" is an opportunity to celebrate the newest additions to our university collection. Artwork by artists such as Picasso, Warhol, Matisse, and many more are featured. Institutional collections grow physically through the acquisition of new objects. Here at LUAG this happens thanks to the generosity of alumni, family, and friends as we see in this exhibition which highlights the growth of the LUAG Teaching Museum Collection over the last five years.

LUAG Main Gallery is open Wednesday 11am-5pm, Thursday 11am - 8pm, Friday - Saturday 11am - 5pm, and Sunday 1pm - 5pm.
