Homey welcoming feeling where you can enjoy concerts by musicians from all over the world and your preferred New England locals, playing your favorite songs. This intimate setting is as if you all have a front row seat. After the show you meet with the artists, get autographs or just hang out. This 1893 Historical Washington County Courthouse, located near the Amtrak Train Station and just a minute from the University of Rhode Island is a beautiful Romanesque, Granite building and now home to the Courthouse Center for the Arts. Sporting a full service bar, plentiful parking, modernized with air-conditioning and handicapped access, this venue will delight you with its historical and old world charm. The Courthouse seats 193-280 happy patrons, wrapped in a U shape around the stage. Children's programming in music and arts are free as well as space for other non-profit organizations and support groups in need of this grand ole' buildings ample space. Many hold their fundraisers here along with celebrations, recitals and more.
The Grand Courtroom serves perfectly for recordings as most all musicians love the sound. The Courthouse had its first CD release party here for an up and coming band that recorded live in our Grand Courtroom. We now have monthly gallery exhibits, music events are every weekend, and educational opportunities are on the rise. Grants are being searched out for more and more things to improve upon and offer to the public, and the continued preservation of this building. A supportive Board of Directors and a host of kind, dedicated and loving volunteers manage and operate this fine facility and it’s all its endeavors.

The Courthouse is committed to providing accessible, affordable and free programming for adults and kids, increasing community involvement and participation, and community outreach assistance, focusing on providing services not offered by other nearby facilities, working to achieve distinction in our chosen focus all while preserving the historic and really cool, home to ghosts, Washington County Courthouse as its home.
