The Mammoth Site

Travel back in time to the late Ice Age by taking a 30 minute guided tour indoors. Walk the edges of a sinkhole where Columbian and woolly mammoths, camels, wolves & giant short-faced bears became trapped 26,000 years ago, leaving an ancient treasure trove of fossil remains. This actively working excavation site features the fossils of over 61 mammoths.

The Ice Age exhibit hall displays full-sized replicas of mammoths, a giant short-faced bear & a walk-in mammoth bone-hut. The exhibit hall also features replicas of Lyuba and Dima; baby mammoth mummies discovered in Siberia.

For budding scientists, there is a hands-on learning activity area for children. Downstairs, the laboratory windows provide a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the scientific work being conducted on site.

The Mammoth Site is a Non-Profit 501 (c)(3) Organization and is open year round.
