Sons of Confederate Veterans, Inc.

The SCV is the direct heir of the United Confederate Veterans, and the oldest hereditary organization for male descendants of Confederate soldiers. Organized at Richmond, Virginia in 1896, the SCV continues to serve as a historical, patriotic, non-racial, and non-political organization dedicated to ensuring that a true history of the 1861-1865 period is preserved.

Historic Elm Springs is a Greek Revival mansion built in 1837 and the home of Colonel Abraham Looney of the 1st Tennessee Infantry Regiment during the War Between the States. Confederate cavalrymen under the command of General Frank Armstrong saved the mansion from destruction during the 1864 Nashville Campaign by shooting dead the Union troops who set fire to the house and extinguishing the flames.

Historic Elm Springs currently serves as the General Headquarters for the SCV and is open to the public 8am - 5pm Monday-Friday. On demand tours are provided by the staff ($5) and we have a well stocked store where we sell Confederate and SCV merchandise, to include books, clothing, and a vast array of historically accurate Confederate flags. Members can conduct regular business during business hours and interested individuals can have their genealogy checked and sign up for the SCV on site.

Historic Elm Springs is the future site of THE NATIONAL CONFEDERATE MUSEUM at Historic Elm Springs which will be the premier museum dedicated to the Confederate soldier, sailor and Marine. The grand opening is scheduled for July 2018.

During the Veterans Day Weekend each year, the SCV HQ hosts the Southern Heritage and Veterans Festival on our 70 acre plantation. Veterans and everyone interested in Southern heritage are invited and we have activities for all ages.

"To you, Sons of Confederate Veterans, we will commit the vindication of the cause for which we fought. To your strength will be given the defense of the Confederate soldier's good name, the guardianship of his history, the emulation of his virtues, the perpetuation of those principles which he loved and which you love also, and those ideals which made him glorious and which you also cherish." Lt. General Stephen Dill Lee, Commander General, United Confederate Veterans, New Orleans, Louisiana, April 25, 1906.
