Elmo’s Rest nestled at the bottom of the Blue Ridge parkway is a sixth generation family farm begun in 1918. In addition to the accommodations provided in an original two story farm house with modern conveniences; there is much more to the experience of being on a true working farm. Dependent upon the season you may observe cultivating, planting, and harvesting of many crops. Some you may enjoy picking for your enjoyment such as blackberries, plums, cherries, peaches and apples. You may taste and buy the jams and jellies made from farm produce and sold here on premises in our farm store. Over twenty years ago, we started making fruit wines from our crops and provide tastings and sales of more than 30 wines. You may view more than 100 animals grazing pastures and being fed and nurtured. Children of all ages enjoy feeding corn to the chickens and never tire of gathering the fresh eggs. Fishing, sitting by the firepit, grilling, relaxing under the sun covered patio or sitting in the covered pavilion that has lights and fans are places to enjoy the company of friends and family. “Come for a visit and remember for a lifetime”
The rambling 19th-Century farmhouse is furnished as if someone stepped out in the 1930's or 40's, yet it has all the modern conveniences of home. The farmhouse is completely furnished to accommodate groups, families, and couples. The home has 5 bedrooms and sleeps up to 12 guests. Three of the bedrooms each have 2 double beds, one bedroom has 2 bunk beds (4 beds), and another bedroom has a single bed and a twin baby bed. The house also has a living room, dining room, 2 bathrooms, and plenty of porches for sitting. The fully-equipped kitchen has a coffee maker, microwave, dishes, and pots and pans. The home also has a washer/dryer, phone, TV, central air and a CD player. Linens and towels are provided.
The home is 8 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and 7 miles from The National D-Day Memorial. On the farm is Peaks of Otter Winery which makes "Fruit of the Farm Wine." Nearby you can find fast food and gourmet restaurants.
