The Wytheville area has an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities. New River Trail State Park has a 57-mile long trail through three counties that runs parallel to the historic New River. Horseback riding, hiking, biking, tubing, kayaking and more are encouraged at this Virginia State Park. Crystal Springs Recreation Area is 1,800 acres of trails with diverse experience and adventure ranges. Trek to High Rocks for breathtaking views of beautiful mountain vistas.
Annual festivals, such as the eight-day Chautauqua Festival, feature local artisans, crafters, musicians, and offer visitors a glimpse of Southwest Virginia culture.
