Introduction to Natural Horsemanship will provide an the foundation for all work with horses. You will learn to work with a horse on line and be guided in how to handle a horse safely.You will learn to how to greet, invite, touch, halter, lead, groom, move the horse in a circle and back up a horse with his full cooperation. (Offered as a two hour introductory session, and a more in depth full day session)
Working at Liberty- learn how to use your energy to engage the horse to move with you in unison. Focus on connection, psychology of horses, use of breath, rhythm, sharing space, balance of being and doing. (2 hour private sessions)
Developing the balanced and supple horse- the core exercises for Classical Dressage. Work with a schoolmaster learning correct lunging using a Caveson, as well as Shoulder In, and Haunches In. (private or semi private sessions)
Lunge Line lessons - develop your seat with working on a school horse on a lunge. This is how the riders at the Spanish Riding School start, this work will build confidence, stability, balance and you will have a chance to feel what a correct circle feels like as well as Shoulder In and Haunches In. All students work on a lunge prior to riding.
The Keys to the Heart of a Horse - This two day retreat will open up the doors of communication between you and horses. You will learn the Rituals that horses use in the wild to build relationships and herd harmony, to promote mutual understanding through clear communication and how to establish leadership. While some may call this 'Horse Whispering' I see it as 'Horse Listening'. These guided exercises will teach you to focus, to listen to your intuition and to work in harmony with the horse. Step by step you will be guided through a series of exercises which will build upon one another to establish you as a leader. You will also have the chance to watch others in their process and participate in the group discussion of the experience. Your relationship and understanding of horses will grow in leaps and bounds, and you will most likely have insights into your other relationships as well!
People often say to me: "I want the kind of relationship with my horses that you have with yours." to greet them at the gate, follow them willingly, enjoy their company, want to please....They tell me they are looking to connect. Unlike horse training methods that follow a dominance model, based on learned helplessness. I use positive and natural methods that create an inter-species bond.
