Our breakfasts are highly recommended by all who stay with us; made with local produce, we have achieved an AA Breakfast Award in 2016 - the 6th year running. This coveted award is only presented to establishments serving breakfasts using fresh, local ingredients that exceed the quality requirements of a 4* star rating. Breakfasts include not simply our Traditional English and the Hearty Double English breakfasts with delicious local sausages, bacon and free range eggs, but also Creamy Scrambled Eggs & Smoked Salmon on toasted muffins, Devonshire Hog & Hen, American (bacon & eggs with pancakes and maple syrup), Continental and many other lighter options. Vegetarian, gluten free and lactose free options are always available. Afternoon tea is also available.
Merritt House is less than five minutes’ level walk to the bus, mainline and steam railway stations in a quiet street off the main roads, and is on the South West Coast Path. Enjoy the Paignton to Dartmouth steam railway, fishing trips, bay cruises, swimming pool/fitness centre, local 'blue flag' beaches, outdoor tennis courts, and local restaurants/pubs. Walkers, cyclists, diving and sailing enthusiasts are welcome to take advantage of our drying room for boots and other wet gear.
Merritt House is a great base for enjoying the best of Paignton, the Torbay area, and Dartmoor National Park
