Plant World

If you have never visited Plant World's amazing hilltop garden centre you just don't know what you are missing! 30 years ago Ray Brown bought a four acre hilltop field and was assured that his crazy idea of a "world garden" just would not work. But now, the four acres of landscaped hilltop gardens representing each of the five continents has been called Devon's 'little outdoor Eden' and has been featured on TV numerous times including BBC's Gardeners' World. The beautifully laid out nursery has a fantastic selection of rare and exotic flowers trees and shrubs from around the world, and you can even see them growing in their correct 'country', whilst the children can spot Katy Koala in Australia and the Yeti on “Everest” during their trip around the world gardens.

The hilltop café offers one of the most incredible panoramas in the country, with unbeatable views of the River Teign estuary to
the north and the twin peaks of Haytor rising above Dartmoor in the west. The extensive but simple menus include paninis, toasted sandwiches and jacket potatoes, local produce being used whenever possible, as well as a good range of home-made cakes and the famous Devon Cream Teas. A high class espresso machine supplies the highest quality coffee.

For years, locals have just raced by the secluded entrance on the Barton to Milber back road without dreaming what lay within. Come and find out!

From the Penn Inn flyover/roundabout at the end of A380 follow signs to Milber and Combeinteignhead for only 50 metres and then take a sharp right turn. Plant World is 1.5 miles further on, at the top of the long hill past Teign Fitness.
