Enjoy an exciting range of hands-on science and discovery amongst the domes and telescopes of a former world famous observatory. Our historic site is now a thriving science centre, with over 100 interactive exhibits, as well as Telescope Tours, Science Shows, Café, Gift Shop, outdoor Discovery Park and water play areas. Open Evenings including night sky viewing (weather permitting), Astronomy Courses, Workshops and many Special Events are also run throughout the year. Our aim is to make science spectacular and fun for everyone.

Our annual Astronomy Festival is now in its 13th year so why not join us from the 1st - 3rd September 2017 and soak up the incredibly warm and friendly atmosphere, either for just one day or the whole weekend. As our major fund raising event, the Astronomy Festival ensures the longevity of the telescopes and domes so that we can continue to share them with everyone.

There is a full programme again this year including lectures, trade stalls, observing (weather permitting), family workshops and daily raffles. Why not camp under the stars and against the backdrop the of the domes? We have a limited number of pitches available and this year for the first time, you can also book accommodation at Herstmonceux Castle which is on the same estate as the Science Centre and a short walking distance from the Festival site.
